I was browsing through GoNU.com today and found this. It's basketball manager Matthew Holt's blog of the team's Canadian tour this summer. Fast forward to the present and the team is currently one game in to what could be the most crucial stretch of the season. The Huskies play at Old Dominion tonight at seven. NU squeaked by George Mason at Matthews Wednesday night to move into a three-way tie for first in the CAA with VCU and Mason. Those two teams are set to square off in about three minutes at VCU. Should the Huskies lose, the winner of that game will find themselves all alone at the top of the CAA. If the Huskies win, it will be down to a two-team tie for top spot.
-Tonight the men's hockey team takes on Providence at Matthews. NU knocked off the Friars 3-1 last night in Providence. For a true inside look at the hockey team, be sure to check out goalie Brad Thiessen's blog here.
It's nearing the end of January and the Beanpot is right around the corner. Beanpot Media day is this Tuesday at the Garden and I'll be sure to post my thoughts from that. The games are the following two Mondays. And coming up soon is the baseball team's annual trip to Florida next month.... I will be making my first trip down this year and I'm pretty excited. Right after that is the CAA basketball tourney in Richmond. I should be making first trip down there as well. With all these exciting events both now and coming up, it truly is a great time to cover NU sports.
